Online Payment Control

Giving you greater control of your online payments.

If you use Business Internet Banking then our free optional service will give you greater control of your online payments. If your business requires two or three people to authorise all payments you can now use this service to make payments online. You can also choose to set payment limits for individual users. Your account’s nominated Full Access (Account Signatory) will need to arrange these options.

To set up online payment control service, log on to Business Internet Banking and click on “manage payment control” under your Account tools menu.

Key Features

  • Free optional service on Business Internet Banking.
  • Set an individual user’s payment limit for each transaction*.
  • Allow up to three signatories to authorise payments.
  • You can set individual payment limits for each of your authorised Internet Banking users, giving you greater control of how your business or organisation makes payments.

    How this works:

Bob and John are partners in ABC Plumbing. Una is their bookkeeper.

Bob and John would like Una to be able to make online payments up to £1,000.

Bob and John are registered for Internet Banking but Una is not.

Una needs to register as a Full Access (Delegate) for Internet Banking.

Once Una is registered, Bob or John can log on to Internet Banking, choose 'Manage Payment Control' and set Una's limit to £1,000 per transaction. They can change this limit whenever they need to.

Una can make individual payments up to £1,000 without anyone needing to authorise these payments. She can also set up payments above her £1,000 limit, ready for Bob or John to approve.

  • If your business or organisation requires two people to authorise all payments you can now make online payments using this service.

    How this works:

Mark, Emily and Gita are partners in a consultancy firm, and all three are registered for Internet Banking.  Alec is their bookkeeper.

Their business rules require two signatories to authorise all payments. Currently Alec prepares cheques for any two of them to physically sign.

With Online Payment Control payments can now be made online.

Alec is registered as a Full Access (Delegate) and is set up as 'Create only' by one of the account signatories – Mark, Emily or Gita.

Alec can create payments – any two of the signatories can authorise them online.

Mark, Emily and Gita can also set up and authorise a payment which can then be authorised by either of the other two.

  • If your business or organisation requires three people to authorise all payments you can now make online payments using this service.

    How this works:

Maureen runs a charity that requires three people to authorise all payments.

There are eight people currently authorised to sign cheques.

With Online Payment Control payments can now be made online.

Each signatory can register for Internet Banking and any of them will be able to set up and be the first authoriser. Any two of the other seven signatories will then be able to complete the online payment.
