Sustainable farming and food
Accelerate your transition to net zero and identify financial and environmental advantages for your land.
How we can help you with sustainable finance
Farmers face unprecedented challenges that, if ignored, could threaten Scotland's chances of reaching net zero emissions by 2045, harm the economy and even curb future food supplies. Our Clean Growth Financing Initiative and Green Asset Finance can help you make energy efficiency improvements and adopt regenerative farming practices.
Energy efficient equipment
Improve your processes with funding for equipment or machinery that improves energy efficiency by 50%. For example, farm equipment, milking parlours and robotics.
Renewables
Generate green energy for your own use or to export to the grid, with funding for solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, wind, hydropower, biomass, geothermal and energy storage.
Energy efficient buildings
Ensure the energy efficiency of your buildings by either building new, retrofitting existing buildings to improve EPC rating, or acquiring/refinancing buildings that are already energy efficient.
Environmental schemes
Schemes that help with regenerative farming or biodiversity; for example, countryside stewardship, protection and infrastructure, and woodland management.
Water management
Activities that improve water conservation or use, such as rain water harvesting, irrigation systems, drainage and hydroponics.
Waste management
Activities that reduce waste or improve recycling, for example, anaerobic digestion, slurry management and storage.
