Manage access to Business Internet Banking

How to choose the level of access for each user

With Business Internet Banking you can choose who has access to your accounts and what level of access they have. This lets you easily add business partners and employees with peace of mind.

When you register for Business Internet Banking we’ll ask if you’re an account signatory for the business – this will determine the access level you apply for. An account signatory is someone who can make decisions and sign for things on behalf of the business.

Levels of user access

  • This lets you do everyday tasks like making payments, talking to us about your business, and performing similar actions to a Full Access User. There are some features you can’t use, such as setting up online payment control, making a bulk payment limit request or requesting and authorising non-payment service tasks online.

Also, you can’t apply for financial products like loans or overdrafts.

  • Users can log in to Business Internet Banking to check account balances, recent transactions and download previous statements, but they can’t carry out any actions. This level of access is ideal for admin or accounting.

We’ll set you up as a Full Access User if you’re a Full Power Signatory. This lets you:

  • apply for products such as loans and overdrafts
  • set up new account users and payment controls
  • make changes to the account, like updating the business address or phone number
  • request and authorise non-payment service tasks online.

Already registered for Business Internet Banking?

You can request to add and remove people and select their user access level. Log in and select ‘Admin’ then ‘Your business’ tab. In ‘People in your business and signing rules’ select ‘Add signatory’ or ‘Manage’ in the ‘People in your business’ section. Find out more about changing who can access your accounts.

  • Amend access – select the right level of access for each user. You can also add or remove online access to specific accounts and cards.
  • Remove users – if someone’s changed role or left your company, you can remove their access.
  • And – update the signatories on your business mandate, mailing address and signing instructions.

Things to consider…

  • Only existing signatories on your business can register as Full Access Users online.
  • A Full Access User can apply for products and make changes to your account without approval from other users. If someone doesn’t need to do this, they should be given Delegate or View-Only Access.
  • Full Access and Delegate Users can make payments online without approval from other users. If you want online payments to require the approval of multiple users, you should consider setting up Online Payment Controls. View Only Users can’t make payments.

  • You may be in the situation where signatories on your account can no longer approve changes. For example, they may have left your business. In cases like this, you’ll need to complete a board resolution.
