Moving your account to us takes just seven working days, from when your account is opened. Our dedicated switching team offer a simple and reliable service.
We can move everything for you with the Current Account Switch Service, or you can ask us to move individual payments and balances with the Transfer of Payment Arrangement Service.
Current Account Switch Service
- arrange for your old bank to close your previous account and transfer any credit balance to your new Bank of Scotland account
- transfer all incoming and outgoing payments within the seven working day guarantee
- redirect all payments to and from your old account to your new account for at least three years
If anything goes wrong with the switch, as soon as we are told we will refund any interest or charges you have incurred on your old or new account as a result of a delay caused by us. This does not cover changes or interest resulting from required tasks you or your old bank do not complete.
The Current Account Switch Guarantee ensures your current account will switch on a working day of your choice. Your payments will be automatically transferred and redirected to your new account, and in the unlikely event you incur any charges on your old or new bank account due to an error or delay, you will be refunded in full when this is brought to our attention.
Transfer of Payment Arrangement Service
- specify the payments you would like us to transfer
- ask us to transfer any outstanding credit and/or debit balance from your old account
- choose whether or not you’d like us to arrange for your old bank to close your previous account.
