Rates and charges

Business Extra Tariff

With this tariff, you’ll be charged for each transaction. If you plan to use a mix of cash, cheque and electronic payments, this may be the more cost-effective option.

Electronic Business Tariff

With this tariff, you’ll only be charged for in-branch transactions. If most of your transactions will be electronic, this may be the more cost-effective option.

Who can apply

What you need to know before applying

To apply, you:

  • should have an annual turnover between £3 million and £25 million
  • may need lending over £250,000 and access to a broader range of products
  • require the account for business use.

 

If your annual turnover is below £3 million, please see our account for smaller businesses.

This type of account is suitable for:

  • new Bank of Scotland business customers; for example, if you’re looking to switch your banking relationship
  • existing Bank of Scotland business customers; for example, if you’d like to open a secondary account or establish a new legal entity within an existing group.

Switching to us is easy


We'll

  • arrange for your old bank to close your previous account and transfer any credit balance to your new Bank of Scotland account
  • transfer all incoming and outgoing payments within the seven-working-day guarantee
  • redirect all payments to and from your old account to your new account for at least three years
  • refund you for any interest or charges incurred on your old or new account as a result of an unlikely delay caused by us.

Have you charged the funds in your account to a 3rd party?

Pledged Accounts can apply to any lending structure in any sector where the 3rd party takes security in the form of a charge against a named account held with Us, requiring you to request that We waive Our right of set off on the balances and recognise the 3rd party’s claim should you default on your obligations to the 3rd party charge holder. 

  • Instant access to funds: as long as cleared funds are available.
  • The accounts will continue to run in line with your existing Current Account product Terms and Conditions and mandate unless we are notified of your default.
  • In the event that we are notified of your default, Pledged Accounts have the functionality to allow the 3rd party charge holder to take control of the funds† (subject to Know Your Customer compliance meeting the Bank’s standards).
  • 3rd party and Client are able to view Pledged Accounts via Our online digital channel, as long as both parties are set up via Our client.

†Please note, until the point you default, you will have the sole right to amend account level mandate set up and payment approvals as you will remain the Primary Administrator.

As part of a regulatory requirement, an independent survey was conducted to ask approximately 1,200 customers of each of the 15 largest business current account providers if they would recommend their provider to other small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs*). The results represent the view of customers who took part in the survey.

Overall service quality

We asked customers how likely they would be to recommend their business current account provider to other SMEs.

*SMEs include businesses, clubs, charities and societies with an annual turnover/income of up to £25m (exclusive of VAT and other turnover-related taxes).
