Innovation and support
From the Manufacturing Technology Centre
What support is there for my business?
Manufacturing Support Service
Recognising that businesses don’t stand still in an ever-competitive environment, the MTC offers a range of services to accelerate business performance.
The MTC’s programmes aim to help businesses be more productive, innovative and reduce costs. They can help address a number of practical, technical and strategic engineering challenges including:
- Productivity
- Sustainability
- Supply chain robustness
- Digitalisation
- Technology road mapping
- Technology adoption
- New product and process development.
Free consultative line walk
Manufacturers nationwide can take up the opportunity to have a free consultative line walk at their facility to discuss current challenges and identify potential solutions. Undertaken by an MTC senior engineer, the review takes 3-5 hours where they will meet with the senior team, conduct a shop floor process review and provide recommendations. The line walk is subject to a prior virtual assessment with an MTC expert.
A new focus on sustainability
Manufacturing plays a critical role in the journey towards sustainability and net zero decarbonisation, but identifying the challenges and solutions can be a daunting task for businesses. That’s why the MTC has extended its free line walks to help manufacturers identify sustainability improvements.
Further collaboration
Depending on the project requirements clients may wish to work with the MTC to embed the improvements identified on their line walks across their business. If you are an SME with less than 250 employees, the MTC can help provide access to up to 50-60% funding through innovate UK's REACH SME grant scheme.
For sustainability improvements, further programmes of support include:
- Sustainability road mapping
- Sustainability discovery
- Emissions calculator
- IoT data acquisition
- Supplier capability and resilience assessment
- Productivity improvements.
