Financial Services Compensation Scheme

Bank of Scotland

Your eligible deposits held by a UK establishment of Bank of Scotland plc are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit guarantee scheme. This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with the following: Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Bank of Scotland Private Banking.

Any total deposits you hold above the limit between these brands are unlikely to be covered.

Note, if you have deposited funds through a type of financial institution known as a 'Deposit Aggregator', they will place the funds with Banks and Building Societies who are licenced to hold deposits. Please ensure you understand which financial institution(s) your funds are held with, as all money held under a single banking licence e.g. Bank of Scotland plc, will be pooled under a single £120k deposit protection allowance.

Due to FSCS eligibility criteria not all business customers will be covered.

FSCS Guidelines

We would note that most of our corporate customers may not be eligible for FSCS protection as generally they would need to be categorised as a 'Small Company' under the Companies Act 1985 or Companies Act 2006.
